Are You Taking Advantage of Email Campaigns?

September 15, 2017

The age of the email campaign is far from over. In fact, a study by Econsultancy showed that companies today attribute 23 percent of their sales to email marketing – an increase of 5 percent since 2013. Before you believe the “email is dead” rumors, try taking full advantage of this platform for your company. Using smart email techniques and savvy shortcuts, you can get the most out of your next email blast.

Use Email Retargeting

Email retargeting gives you a second chance with site visitors who left without making a purchase. You can easily target visitors with content that matches their browsing history, such as specific products they put in their carts but never bought. Email retargeting gives you a significant advantage over traditional blasts, because the email will be personalized to fit the specific user.

Put More Lines in the Water

Are you using Mail Merge through Microsoft? If not, you’re missing out on a simple way to improve emailing. Mail Merge and similar applications allow you to send hundreds of emails per day in just a few clicks. You can garner leads from your website using machine learning, and then send emails to an enormous audience. The best way to reach more people is to widen your reach. The more lines you have in the water, the more bites you’ll get.

Open a Conversation

Emails that are impersonal, to the point, and purely informative are much less likely to get responses than those that serve to open a conversation. Be personal, using first names whenever possible. Have an opening hook that gets the customer to continue reading. Don’t focus too much on yourself. Instead, ask about the customer and make him/her feel that you care. Striking up a conversation instead of strictly trying to sell can forge lasting customer relationships.

Avoid Industry Jargon

Unless your target audiences are high-level industry professionals, they don’t want to read jargon-heavy email. Use layman’s terms and simple language to get your message across to readers without losing them along the way. Avoid text that is confusing or irrelevant, such as saying you have a “successful solution” when you never explained the problem. Your email should be short, sweet, and easy to read.

Try these tips for your next email marketing campaign and watch your customer metrics start to improve.
